Costruzioni Aeronautiche TECNAM S.p.A., commonly known as Tecnam, is an Italian aircraft manufacturer. The company has two main activities: the production of aircraft components for various other manufacturers and the manufacturing of its own range of light aircraft. The company was founded in 1986 by the Italian brothers Luigi Pascale and Giovanni Pascale, who have extensive experience in aircraft development and manufacturing. Before establishing Tecnam, they were responsible for several aviation projects, including the development and construction of the twin-engine Partenavia P.68. Their original intention when founding Tecnam was to manufacture aircraft components on behalf of other manufacturers, initially including the American aerospace company Boeing and commuter aircraft specialist ATR. As the market for light sport aircraft began to develop, the brothers entered this sector, starting with the Tecnam P92, which was well-received.
