Bell Aircraft Corporation is an aircraft manufacturer that was founded in Texas in 1935. The company started by building fighter jets for the Second World War.
It was their helicopters that made the Bell brand accessible to aviation enthusiasts. By 1974, more than 5,600 aircraft had already been constructed.
Slowly, Bell began cooperating with Italian manufacturers (Agusta for example). All of Bell's business ended up being taken over by Textron.
In the 2010s, Bell Helicopter Textron captured just under a quarter of the world market for civil helicopters, behind Eurocopter (almost 50%).
Incidentally, the first vessel to have crossed the sound barrier in horizontal flight was a Bell.
