The Fourniers aircraft are the work of René Fournier, the creator of the "motor-gliders" bearing his name. René Fournier was a recognized artist as early as the 1950s. He was an amateur pilot and a certified aircraft mechanic from the Rochefort School. He had many talents, including poetry, music, and ceramics. He was asked to create a trophy for a meeting of the Réseau du Sport de l'Air (RSA) in 1951. After training in amateur wooden and fabric aircraft construction, he decided to design and build his first "motor-glider." Subsequently, he created various models of "motor-gliders" such as the RF-1, RF-2, and RF-3, as well as aircraft like the RF-6 and RF-7.
